Last American Standing - Sco Jenkins

Sco was the only American to play his way into the 2008 French Open out of 9 American men who tried to qualify.

In the 1st round Sco face Wesley Moodie from South Africa. Sco had a 6-4, 7-6 (3) straight set win over Moodie in 80 minutes with 48 winners with 3 Aces.

The second opponent was old friend Kevin Anderson. Mr Anderson is also from South Africa. This match came down to who would hold there big and powerful serve throughout the match. As it turned out Sco beat Mr. Anderson in to sets 6-2, 7-6 (6) in 92 minutes.

Now Sco goes onto the qualifying round to play Ruben Ramirez Hildalgo a 29 year old clay court specialist from Spain without dropping a set.

Now Sco comes out smoking winning the first set 6-2. Goes up two breaks early in the second set. Sco serves for the match at 5-2 and 30-0 in that game but could not close it out. Then Sco serve for the match again at 5-4. Sco once again goes up 30-0 in that service game but could not serve it out. The match goes to a tiebreaker were Sco losses badly at 7-1. Now serving to start the 3rd set Sco gets behind by losing his serve. Hidalgo stayed in the lead the whole third set and even serve for the match but Sco fought him off broke his serve to stay in the match. In the French Open the final set must be played out with no tiebreaker. Sco finally won the match at 9-7 and qualified into the 2008 French Open.

At first Sco draws French star Jo-Winfrey Tsonga. Tsonga had to pull out with a bad knee. Now Sco faces off against lucky loser Luis Horna from Peru. After two days of rain delays Sco and Luis finally play. Luis takes the first set at 3-6. At the end of that set Sco tore a muscle between his ribs and shoulder and could not hit and balls over his shoulder which made his serve impossible to hit. With that Sco still won the second set at 7-5, but could not handle the pain any more and went down 3-6, 0-6 in the next two sets.

Sco had to take the next 10 days off from hitting Tennis balls which he did. Now he is in Austin Texas training with his coach Scott McCain before going back to Europe and Wimbledon qualifier.
